Black & Decker CMM1200 Cordless Electric Lawn Mower

I own a beautiful and environmentally friendly Black & Decker 24-Volt Cordless electric battery operated lawn "mulcher" mower. This Mower is a beauty, you do not need to go through the hassle of pouring gas all over the place and pressing a little plastic suction button to get the gas circulated in the mower.

You plug the mower in overnight, let it charge then push a little button that turns it on! That's right, no more ripping on that pull cord, I was surprised on how nice and quiet it ran, its a pretty powerful mower that has a 24 volt battery.

I bought this mower at sears on a whim and have to say I'm pretty satisfied with it, I have some problems with kind of moist grass, but that's kind of typical with any mower when you try to cut wet grass. All in all I would recommend this mower to a person looking for a nice efficient non-gas mower that is easy to empty, push, and use.

No Pleasure With The Black and Decker CMM1200
by: L Morrison

I bought this mower last year and I got one season out of it. Not because the mower was poor, but because it wasn't a very nice tool to work with. I bought it because it was "green" and I'm trying to do my bit for the environment.

It is a struggle to push at times because it isn't self-propelled. I am spoiled by my old Honda gas mower which is self-propelled. It stills works by the way and I am thinking of going back to it.

This CMM1200 mower is useless unless you have a small lawn because by the time you go over the lawn twice just to get a good cut because of the lack of power, the battery has gone flat. Not recommended for large lawns.

My advice to anyone who has $300-$400 to spend on a lawn mower is to buy a Honda, Toro or Snapper. You will appreciate the quality and probably get more than one season of enjoyment out of it!

Best Lawn Mower I Have Ever Owned
by: Natalie Cox

I currently use a Black and Decker CMM1200 lawn mower. I'm from Fillmore California USA. This is honestly the best lawn mower that I have personally ever used. I had used a few different models regularly (can't remember which ones it's been years) in the past when I was growing up at my parents house and this one blows the others out of the water.

The older models I've used were not nearly as appealing, the features weren't as modern and their performance was weak in comparison. The older models would require the user to put oil in them, pump ten times or so and pull a string followed by the lever to get started.

The bag wasn't easy to release for dumping the trash and the performance of the blades weren't so great either. I remember that to adjust the height wasn't the easiest of tasks also.

The Black and Decker CMM1200 is easy to use in every way. The lawn mower has a rechargeable battery and all you have to do is hook it up over night and the next day its ready to go.

There's a little orange key you put in a keyhole, turn and then all you have to do is hold on this little orange lever that's placed in a comfortable position and it's already started and ready to cut.

Adjusting the height is simple just by pulling a lever up or down near the bottom of the mower on the right hand side. The bag is extremely simple to release and equally as easy to put back on. The blades have cut phenomenally for me. I've had this lawn mower for 3 years now and not a single problem that I can't think of has occurred.

I bought this lawn mower online from Amazon.com because of my needs and the positive reviews I read. I believe this lawn mower is good for either small or large gardens. Maybe not gardens that are huge but large seems fine for this particular lawn mower. All in all the Black and Decker CMM1200 through my experiences blows all other competition out of the water, is easy to use and is great for small to large gardens. Hope this helps!

Review of Black & Decker CMM1200
by: Dr. Z.

I purchased my Black & Decker CMM1200 in late 2007. This was a replacement for a similar Sears Craftsman cordless mower that had gone through two sets of batteries in nine years before the circuit board fried.

The CMM1200 was pretty painless and straight forward to use for the first two years. However, just after the warranty period had expired, the charger began to show inconsistent operation in providing a charge and both of the LED indicator lights finally stopped working.

There has been an issue where the charge plug could be inserted backwards, but that would have taken the caress of a gorilla to actually do.

Anyhow, a new charger was purchased and all was well for another few months, until the batteries began to fail. Some references say that you are lucky to get three years out of such batteries, but with proper care (and a good attention span), I was able to get 4-5 years out of two complete sets of batteries in my previous cordless mower.

Just last week I installed two Tempest TR22-12 batteries into the mower. These after-market batteries are roughly the same price as the OEM Black & Decker batteries, but have a 22 amp/hour rating vs. the stock 17 amp/hour.

All I can say on performance is that in the past, the stock batteries barely began to show signs of fatigue with the last mower pass of my yard. With these newer/stronger batteries, I was able to mow my yard and half of another similar sized yard before the same battery fatigue.

I am just hoping that I will get another 4-5 years of use out of the CMM1200 for roughly half the price in parts that it would have taken to buy a whole new unit.

Here is a much more indepth review of the Black & Decker CMM1200:

Here is more technical (and common sense) information on the CMM1200 and batteries in general from someone more geeky than I:

http://markselectricmower.blogspot.com/2010/04/battery.html

Here is the bottom line from my experience. The Black & Decker CMM1200 has the average performance quality of any other cordless mower and a warranty that will probably expire before anything happens, which it very likely will.

If you are mechanically inclined and take care of the unit, you will extend the inevitable frustration that others have. Good luck!

Knowledge is power, but an good attention span can never be replaced,

Does A Good Job On Smaller Yards
by: Sandra Giesen

I have a Black & Decker CM1200 Cordless Mower. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. I bought the electric lawn mower at Home Depot and it was not that expensive. I bought it a few years ago and I still use it to this day. It Works pretty well, and holds a decent charge.

I have never had it die on me while I was using it. I do not use the mulching feature very much, I usually just bag the lawn trimmings instead.

The cordless lawn mower works well unless the grass is too long, at which point it chokes up and stops working sometimes, and so you have to go back over and mow it a second time to cut the grass to the right length.

The Black & Decker CM1200 works well on medium sized lawns and small sized lawns, but probably not larger lawns. I have to carry the lawn mower up and down some stairs to get to my backyard, and so it is very helpful that the machine is reasonably light and it is not too bulky.

It's not too heavy and it is also pretty small. Because the CMM1200 is so small, it is very easy to store it. My lawn mower does not take up very much space in my garage, which is very helpful. It stores easily in a corner out of the way of everything else.

Also, it does not take very long to charge the cordless electric mower. It only takes a few hours to charge it, which is pretty good compared to some machines that I have used and owned in the past. Also, having the CMM1200 be cordless makes it easier to use because you do not have to drag the long cord around behind you, and so it is much more convenient.
