I just purchased a Craftsman Shift-On-The-Go Riding Lawn Mower, Model# 13AN77SS099, in Stafford Virginia, to replace the ancient push mower I had back from 1990. I bought it at my local Sears store a couple days ago. What caught my eye is the sleek style and neutral colors.
The price was a bit steep for my pockets at around $1,000 but it was a big step up from the old mower I had. The reason why I decided to go with a riding tractor instead of a push mower is because I just moved and I have a much bigger yard.
This riding mower has a 17.5 horse power engine with a seven speed shift-on-the-go transmission that allows incredible shifting without stopping to change speeds. I am also able to go forward as well as reverse and that saves time!
With the 18" turning radius I have the ability to get around the trees and other objects in my yard. The seat is very durable and extremely comfortable, especially for a larger framed person. The best feature of the lawn tractor is the fact that it has a cup holder. I love that I can have my water or tea with me while I cruise around cutting the grass.
Another great feature is that this tractor can travel at speeds of up to 5.5 miles per hour. A feature I dislike is that the deck settings can be too low for the grass and it can actually chop it up bad. I had this happen only one time, but it made a portion of my yard bald and ugly.
I have used the Craftsman riding mower two times in the past week and everything tests out great. I think it would work best for someone who has a large flat yard, like me, to mow. I love this tractor (despite the low deck and steep cost), I wouldn't replace it for anything. I definitely would recommend this Craftsman 42" lawn tractor to someone who can use all the features.
