Cub Cadet CC 550 SP With 19" CycleCut System

Recently I was looking for a lawn mower because my old one quit and was very old. It lasted a fairly long time however it was hard to start. I recently bought a Cub Cadet CC 550 rear drive push mower. It gives an okay cut. It can cut fairly tall grass. However the blades on this lawn mower are fairly dull and have the tendency to tear at the grass if the blade is not sharp.

I feel that the best feature of this lawn mower is that it will start on the second pull every time I start it. Another good feature is that its bag system is well designed and it cleans up easily.

As the bagging system is well designed it's easy to take off and empty. Also the wheels are hard to raise or lower, as the rear left wheel is nearly stuck in place. I think the lever that you use to adjust the wheels get dirt and grass in them making them stick in place. However the mower is easy to clean.

The engine is fairly powerful at 173cc. It is also fairly fuel efficient allowing me to mow the yard a few times before having to put more gas in it. The mower gives a mediocre look to my yard. I have a fairly large area to mow, yet I could not afford a riding mower.

The CC 550 by Cub Cadet is of fairly good quality for the price. Some of the better Cub Cadet mowers are fairly complex pieces of machinery that cost a lot.

Overall I am satisfied with this mower. Cub Cadets are very good looking pieces of equipment. I would not recommend buying a mower based on looks though. One thing I would change is to make the blade better so that you do not have to sharpen it as often and give it more power.
