Cub Cadet LT1022 Riding Lawn Mower

I own the Cub Cadet LT1022 riding lawn mower and I am very satisfied with it. Previously I owned John Deere lawn mowers and I was unsure if I would like the Cub Cadet as much. However, I got a great deal on it at a local lawn and garden store, and I knew that the Cub Cadet brand was a good one, so I decided to purchase it and give it a try.

I bought this mower back at the beginning of the summer of 2006 and have been using it since then, and so far it has performed wonderfully. We have two acres of hilly lawn and this tractor has no problem, even if the grass is a little wet. You can mow very close to obstacles with the left side (the opposite side has the chute where the cut grass flies out), you can drive over rabbit holes with ease, and it will even mow down fairly tall grass and weeds if you take it easy.

It does a better job mulching the grass than my previous John Deere lawn mower and it starts easier too. It also has the standard safety feature of automatic shut off if you get off the seat while the lawn mower blade is engaged and in motion. (This is a good safety feature, however, if you are a small person and you run over a big bump and you are bounced up off the seat, even just a couple of inches, that can cause the mower to shut off. Not a big deal, you can just re-start it. This tractor seems to be a little more quick to turn off than some of the others I’ve owned.)

It has a nice big mowing deck, a comfortable seat, a cup holder, headlights, and best of all it’s been very reliable. The only thing that has needed to be repaired so far is a flat front tire (no big deal, replaced it myself). Another thing I like is that it has quite a large gas tank. I can mow all of our two acres and not worry about running out of gas. In fact, I can usually mow the entire yard twice before I have to fill up again. This powerful lawn mowing tractor would be overkill if you live on a small, flat city-type lot, but if you have a big yard, it does a great job. It’s pretty loud, but I think any lawn mower would be - I use hearing protection when I mow.

Winterizing it is not difficult, nor is replacing the blade. The manual that comes with it is easy to follow and outlines routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting. Overall I am very pleased with the Cub Cadet LT1022 – I have no real complaints – it seems to be tough and well made. I’ve run over rocks, small stumps, groundhog holes and sticks and it just keeps on going! I’m very glad I gave the Cub Cadet brand a try and would definitely consider purchasing another Cub Cadet lawn mower in the future.
