Fiskars 6201 Reel Lawn Mower

Keeping the lawn nice tidy and cut is what makes a beautiful home even more beautiful. I use a Fiskars 6201 Reel Mower and I'm from Los Angeles, California and the grass plots here are not often very large, so big large lawn mowers are not really needed to get the job down.

Of course if one lives in the suburbs and really wants to make cutting the grass a weekend joy instead of chore, then a riding lawn mower would be a great choice. I on the other hand do not have the budget or the lawn to that product.

As I said I use the Fiskars 18" push mower and it gets the job done amazingly well. Noise is a big concern for me here and after living here for so many years, the sound of the lawn motor two stroke engine has driven me mad. That's why this push lawn mower is a perfect choice. Its easy to cut the grass with (in many ways takes just as much effort to cut with a motorized grass cutter) and doesn't need to deal with messy motor oil.

It's really easy to assemble and store away and really gives a good workout during the weekend. From experience, this lawn mower is probably the best push lawn mower I have ever used and you should get it as well, although it is a bit pricey. The grass doesn't get jammed into the wheel axes, a big problem I had with earlier dirt cheap models, and the blades work extremely well. Be careful around children and pets though. I purchased mine off online at Amazon and it arrived here in just two days and was easy to assemble.

All that was needed was to put together the handle and mower together with a few bolts. The mower works best in lawns that are not big and it pushes the grass along instead of collecting into a bad which requires me to rake my grass into the trash, which is hassle. The blades sometimes will jam, but much less often than many other models. The mower is alright at cutting weeds, but if you have thicks weeds, consider a loud two stroke mower.

All and all this is a great choice for someone with a smaller lawn and wants to keep grass cutting fun, quiet and oil free.

Adjustable Handle And Sharp Blades Sold This Reel Mower For Me
by: Willie Keith

While the amount of green space I have is large considering I live in the city, I cannot justify owning or contributing to the pollution/waste of energy put off by traditional electric or gasoline-powered mowers.

I have used Fiskars products for sewing and have never been disappointed with their quality. The Fiskars Company took the same quality and comfort they use for scissors and designed the most amazing push mower I have ever had the pleasure to use.

I have owned and used several push mowers (the first one being my grandfather's!) and while they worked fine, traditional, old school push mowers have a number of problems, all of which the Fiskars Momentum seem to have eliminated.

I was little hesitant when talking to the sales person at Home Depot about the Momentum reel mower, but he, along with several other customers gave amazing personal reviews and that was enough for me!

While it may seem rather trivial, I could not have been more excited about the adjustable handle. I?m five feet tall and having to push a Reel Mower with my arms extended over my head can be rather exhausting.

Another vanity is the grass discharge chute: it throws it forward! No more grass all over my legs!

The blades of the Fiskars Momentum were the biggest selling point (okay maybe it was the adjustable handle): They don?t touch thus eliminating the constant need to sharpen blades every season.

I used the Momentum 6201 on my wee plot of land and it works great. It handles the random twigs and leaves and even the stubborn Crab Grass. The blades also have four height settings (1" to 4"), so if I skip a week, I?m okay.

With other push mowers, that?s not the case. They also don?t leave uncut spots of lawn, which means less energy going over the same spot again and again.

I also used it on my parent?s lawn (two acres) and my Fiskars Momentum 6201 met the challenge and blew it out of the water! Which means, for those of you living in more suburban of areas with medium size lawns, the Fiskars Momentum would work well.

My only con I have found is when I mow my front yard. It?s very steep and covered with ivy left from a previous owner. It does not handle ivy well (I have to go over it with a weed-whacker first) and sometimes leaves discrepancies. This maybe my ivy problem, but if you have any sharp incline you may want to do a trial run first.

I?ve used the Fiskars 6201 Reel mower for three years and like any tool, maintenance and care is required, but I have been nothing but pleased with the quality.

Love My Fiskars 18" Reel Mower
by: Joel C. Henry

I purchased this lawn mower at Home Depot in Leominster, Massachusetts. Frankly, I couldn't love it more if Merlin had got it for me from the Lady of the Lake. I've been using it exclusively this Summer for all my mowing. This is a push reel mower. No engine noise!

If you haven't used a push mower this decade, then you've missed how much they've improved. The effort of pushing this mower is no more than it would be with a heavier gas mower. It is so quiet! I like to do my mowing on Sunday mornings. This mower doesn't wake the neighborhood.

I think part of the magic is the sharp blades. Fiskars is company that knows sharp. I've used their other products in my workshop and I've never been disappointed how they retain an edge.

I don't have a huge yard. My house sits on a quarter acre of land, but first thing I did when I moved in was lay out a comfortable area of grass space in the front and back. The rest of the land is used for other purposes like gardening, composting, woodpile and such. I still have plenty of room to spark up the charcoal grill and have friends over for a BBQ, but I don't have spend all day on lawn maintenance.

It's important to mow every week, though. A Fiskars reel mower is not good if the grass gets too high or woody. But, keeping up a regular schedule, I have an easy mow. I especially enjoy the optional grass catcher. The lawn clippings are perfect for my compost pile and there's almost no clean up.

At most, a few minutes with a broom, touching up the walkway in my front yard. This mower is very maneuverable. No problem mowing around my two hammock trees or along the walkway. In my opinion it makes a much cleaner cut on the grass than a gas mower. The blades actually cut the grass, rather than ripping them at high speed.

A few times I've had neighbors compliment me on how manicured my lawn looks on mowing day. I would recommend the Fiskars 18" Reel mower to all my friends and I give it the highest rating on all scales!

Fiskars 18" Reel Mower - High End Push Mower
by: William E. Cooley

I purchased this lawn mower at Lowes for around two hundred dollars a few years ago and I love it. The mower is your classic push mower, but with the latest design. The Fiskars 6201 mower is used on a medium size yard and the only maintenance I have done on it over the years is to grease it up a few times. It may not have even needed that, but I wanted to make sure that everything keeps spinning properly.

There are several big pros for using a high level push mower. The first is that you never have to worry about gas, 2 cycle oil, etc that you have to worry about with gas powered lawn mower. You don't smell like gas and have to breathe the fumes in. The blades cut almost as good, and it's fun to use.

The only negative I see with using the Fiskars Reel mower is an issue with longer weeds. When the weeds get a little high, it sometimes has difficulty cutting them down. I sometimes have to push quickly, and lift the mower so it hits the taller weeds.

Otherwise I am completely happy with my purchase. If my lawn was of the larger variety, I might opt for something else. If you have an average size yard, I?m not sure you can beat the usefulness of this product. There are several other options for a cheaper price, but I figured I would get the high end model instead of purchasing a low end gas powered lawn mower.

When I first started using it, I had neighbors coming up to me and asking me what I was using! No sound to bother them, but also cuts like a champ! One of my neighbors even insisted that he must go out and buy one himself.
