Homelite UT13122 24V Cordless Lawn Mower

Last summer, I purchased a Homelite UT13122 Cordless Mower. I paid $20.00 for it at a garage sale. I used it only three or four times, before the battery stopped holding a charge. It seems to be a common issue with the mower. I liked that it was lightweight and had a 20" cutting width, and also that it was cordless.

It was also nice not having to worry about gas, especially with the current gas prices. However, I have a one acre lot. My yard is just way too large for this little mower. I think it would work well on a small city lot.

Be aware, however, that the batteries are very expensive to replace. It is easy to push, and does a great job cutting. It doesn't have a ton of power, so don't let your lawn get out of control for months before using it! I would not purchase one again for my size yard, and I would also suggest you purchase an extra battery so you don't have to stop/charge all the time.

Homelite UT13222 - Do not buy!
by: North Carolina

I bought new UT13222 Homelite mower. The batter lasted less than two seasons. My yard is only 3500 sq.ft. Replacement battery is $150. That would pay for gas over 10 years with a gasoline mower. Warning do not buy Homelite.

I Totally Agree
by: Todd Roberts

I've had the same experience with this mower. I wouldn't recommend it. I have to wait for dry weather because it won't cut damp grass, even with morning dew. It takes two charges to mow 7000 sq.ft. with the mulching feature.

Poor Battery And Charger - Don't Buy!
by: Jesse Fernandez

This lawn mower review is about the Homelite 24v Cordless Lawn Mower UT13122. I currently reside in Federal Way, Washington. I purchased this lawn mower on sale offline during a fall clearance at Home Depot, the Federal Way location, in 2009.

The life of this lawn mower was approximately 24 months before I had to find a replacement. This particular lawn mower is best for small yards (i.e. less than .5 acre lots).

The cordless feature is great, because it saves you a trip to the gas station and you will be saving money by recharging it plugging in the wall.

The biggest issues I had with it are that it doesn?t cut very well on medium to long shards of grass. I found myself running over the grass repeatedly.

The lawn mower comes with a bag to catch the grass cuttings, but that is pretty much useless. The bag is not very functional to catch the grass cuttings. It clogs up at the entrance of the bag and eventually builds up around the lawn mower. Since there is nowhere for the clippings to go, it falls out. So now you?re forced to either empty the bag, which you will be doing quite frequently, since the non-functional bag does not hold much or you do not use the bag and just rake up the cuttings.

The battery has about a forty-five minutes to one hour life if you?re cutting a grass length of three to four inches on a 0.3 acre plot of land. By the twentieth month, I noticed that the battery was starting to lose its life, because it was taking a little longer to charge to get the three green lights. The battery charger it comes with is a notch above garbage. I actually had to buy two replacements which cost one hundred fifty dollars new. The battery charger is very cheaply made which is why it probably breaks very easily. It definitely is not worth what it costs and I would strongly recommend not repurchasing a battery charger in the event that it needs to be replaced.

Homelite does not have a very good customer service line. They are only open during normal business operations central standard time and usually refer all questions to some local service technician. I would not recommend Homelite products, especially not the lawn mower.
