Husqvarna 52 Inch Riding Mower

by Timothy Jones

I bought my Husqvarna ride-on mower at a local Lowes store here in Houston a little over 5 years ago. What I really like about the 05' model Husqvarna mower (52" mowing deck) is that I can get my entire 5 acre pasture on only 2 gallons of gas, which is less then half of the tank (5 gallon tanks). This will definitely get you pretty far without having to stop and refuel.

As for the engine, it's a 22hp Briggs and Stratton, which I have to say is quite dependable given the fact that it's pretty much standard on any cheaper mower. The deck is really where it's at, at 10-guage it's very sturdy and can handle some hard hits without having to worry. Although it's quite large, it is still suitable for a standard front yard as you do have an option for a slow gear at high rpms to mow thick grass.

As I mentioned being an 05' model, over 5 years of service mowing 8 months out of the year about once per week and it's still running strong with only regular schedule maintenance. One thing I would have to point out that is a bit of a struggle is the hydrostatic transmission they decided to use.

It's quite difficult to switch to a faster/slower gear or even to reverse. I mean, it doesn't get to where you're stuck, it just takes quite a few attempts to get it into the desired gear. I really like the fact though that I don't have to worry a whole lot about high inclines or holes in the ground because it seems to handle them very well and traction is excellent compared to some of the neighbors' tractors.

Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and wouldn't consider a different brand or model if I were to repurchase.
