Husqvarna Push Mower Versus Poulan Pro PB19H42LT Lawn Tractor

My family owns a Husqvarna 6522SH self propelled lawn mower. This lawn mower is a push type, but is self propelling. We also own a Poulan Pro PB19H42LT, which is a riding mower. The startup of the Poulan Pro is very easy - anyone can do it, considering you use a key to start it up. However, the Husqvarna hand pushed mower takes some skill, but once it gets going anyone can use it easily.

My family has owned these lawn mowers for about five or six years and they still do their jobs. Living in Colorado Springs, Colorado it can be difficult to keep our grass green (considering the lack of rain). In the early stages of the grass greening, having the Husqvarna lawn mower can be very helpful.

The mulching options on our Husqvarna are very helpful and aid in the process of the grass returning for spring and summer. It’s also nice because it is self propelling and a portion of our backyard is a sloping hill, so you don’t have to put too much effort into mowing up hill.

The push mower can also do edging to an extent (trees and gardens surrounded by stones, or near the fence lines are exclusions). During the summer when the grass has already greened, we occasionally use our push mower in the front or back, but never both considering it’s too much work and too time consuming on a regular basis.

This is where our Poulan Pro lawn tractor comes in. It has the option to pick up any grass clippings and store them in the back container. The container is very large; we only have to empty it twice when we cut the front and back, even though we have a very large yard.

The riding mower is ideal during the summer once the grass is alive because we have a very large yard and it cannot be quickly cut with the push mower. The riding mower is also nice because it’s easily maneuvered and understood if someone teaches you or if you take the time to teach yourself.

The riding mower isn’t very good for going close to the edges of the yard (fence line, trees, or other borders), but other than that, it does everything you’d like it to do. We purchased both our mowers at Lowe’s, in the real store, not online.

Our push mower has been the best for helping our grass grow (if one knows how to use it appropriately and effectively) and our riding mower has been the best for doing large spaces in a small amount of time. We are very satisfied with both mowers; they work wonderfully as a team.
