I used a John Deere 365 lawn mower/garden tractor for about 8 years. I started using it when I was twelve, so it was easy to use even for young people. I am from Green Bay, WI originally, where lawns tend to grow enough that they must be mowed at least once a week unless it doesn't rain much.
The mower was actually very good, and cut the grass evenly when properly adjusted. Removing the deck and changing out attachments could be a little bit of a hassle though. But overall it isn't too difficult. Fuel economy was about average, and it was always very reliable. As far as maintenance on the machine, it did need the occasional air filter and oil change, but other than that, it required little maintenance.
It was equipped with a hydrostatic drive which allowed the speed to be with relation to the position of the speed lever. It does not have the foot pedal which other models have, but the hand operated hand lever is sufficient. Its top speed is slightly higher than other models, which is beneficial for small commutes to mowing areas. However, the highest speed setting should not be used when mowing because this doesn't allow the cutting blades to make enough passes over the grass. It does work very well at around the mid-range speed.
It is also compatible with tiller and snow blower attachments. The tiller attachment, however, did not go very deep into the soil. This is a disadvantage when it is necessary to get down into the ground far enough to fully work the soil for planting. The mower was originally purchased from a local John Deere dealership, and it was purchased in person. I would recommend this mower for anyone who has a medium sized lawn and would also like to have the ability to add tilling and/or snow blower attachments.
