About two years ago my wife and I purchased a John Deere X300 Tractor, 42-Inch Edge Xtra Deck. We have a five acre hobby farm and were not willing to take turns every week with the push mower. Our five acres is mostly lawn so we have to mow most of it. We have part of the lawn fenced off for our two horses but other then that it all needs to be mowed.
We bought it at a large retailer at the end of the summer season so we did not get to use it much that first year. We got a great deal on it since the riding mower was on sale for about $2200. The next spring we really got to take it out and get some use out of it. Everything on the mower is color coded so it is easy to find and to control. The seat is very comfortable so even if I have to sit on it for a hour or more at a time it does not bother my back or get uncomfortable.
It cuts amazing and the space that it cuts at one time cuts down so much on the time that it takes me to mow the lawn. The 16 inch turning radius is perfect for our property and it feels like it goes really fast when I am mowing, especially compared to the push mower!
The other great part of the mower is that while John Deere is a popular brand we had no loyalties to any brand and were really just looking for a good deal. But my wife and I are both thrilled with the high quality of the mower and we are both confident that it will last for a good number of years as long as we do our part to take care of it. It is very solid and everything on it works like a charm.
