The Gas Powered 2011 Range Of Lawn Boy Mowers Includes 10603, 10604, 10605 And 10606

Lawn Boy mowers are renowned for their strength and durability, and it's hardly surprising really when one considers that they've been around for more than seven decades already.

Yes that's right - it's been more than 70 years since Ole Evinrude first started manufacturing Lawn Boy.

Coincidentally, this is the same Mr Evinrude who was behind the manufacturing of the world famous Evinrude outboard motors. In fact, much of the technology and expertise associated with Lawn Boy mowers has come from years of experience in the outboard motor industry. Today however, the Lawn Boy brand is no longer owned by the Evinrude family, but instead, it now belongs to another highly respected lawn mower manufacturer - Toro.

Even though Toro lawn mowers also have an outstanding reputation, the company has never merged the two brands. One very noticeable change which has taken place is that Toro now use third party motors to power their Lawn Boy range.

Of course, because they're not willing to jeopardize a reputation which has taken decades to establish, Toro only use the best motors, such as Briggs & Stratton and Kohler for example.

The company's unwavering commitment to quality also means that consumers can still continue to expect the same level of reliability they've become accustomed to over the years.

Interestingly enough, even though the company pioneered "zero-turn" technology a number of years ago, it has to date steered clear of manufacturing ride-on mowers, and instead, they have continued to focus their efforts on walk-behind mowers only.

2011 Range Of Lawn Boy Walk Behind Mowers

Lawn Boy seem to update their mower range regularly. In 2010 we had the range of 1064 models which included the 10640, 10641, 10642, 10645, 10646 and the 10647. In 2011 the models have changed again and I have listed them below with some of their features.

None of these mowers are CARB compliant so Lawn Boy has produced a similar range with different model numbers specifically for California. They are the 10623, 10624, 10625. The 10623 is the CARB compliant version of the 10603 and so on. There is no CARB version of the 10606.

All the mowers in the Lawn Boy range feature a Kohler OHV 149cc engine, 20" cutting width and steel deck, top mounted bagging system and 7 position adjustable cutting height between 1"-4" thus making them an ideal choice for most home owners.

The 20" tri-cut mower blade cuts the grass into tiny pieces making these mowers great for mulching. Another point of interest is that if you purchase one with a manual start, and it fails to start with the first or second pull at any time during the first three years, the company will repair the mower free of charge.

All models also come with what the company calls a "2 Year Full Coverage Warranty". In other words, consumers are fully covered for a full two years, irrespective of what the problem is.

While the 10603/10623 is a push mower the other three models include variable speed RWD (rear wheel drive) which relies on a maintenance free transmission system. This Power Train Drive is also covered by a warranty for a period of 3 years.

Generally speaking, Lawn Boy mowers are available at most Home Depot Stores, but of course they can also be purchased from any number of online merchants.

In fact, it's usually possible to find exceptionally good deals if you're willing to shop around online, and you can almost always find them being sold cheaper than those which are for sale in your local stores. Even with shipping costs, purchasing online still offers the best value for money.
