Lawnboy Self Propelled Mower With Lifetime Warranty

I purchased a Lawnboy self-propelled walk-behind mower fifteen years ago. I paid close to six hundred dollars at the time which was a lot of money for me to spend on a mower. The biggest factor in my decision was the lifetime warranty that Lawnboy offered. After fifteen years, the motor, and gears still work perfectly.

This mower has been great for my yard. I have a large hill in my backyard that was very hard to mow because of the steepness and I had to wear cleats while mowing. The propulsion on this mower has been fantastic. Its best feature is if I stop, a self locking mechanism on the mower prevents it from moving backwards (great on the hill).

Also another great feature is that it stays running if I want to pick up sticks or move the trampoline. The casing is a hard cast composite magnesium shell. I was skeptical at first about this, but it has taken lots of beatings and held up well. The best part about the shell is that unlike aluminum, the casing doesn't dent or bend.

The downside to this is the mower is extremely heavy. If the drive mechanism ever went out I would have to get rid of this mower. Also, the Lawnboy brand has been great to me. A few years ago my neighbor borrowed my mower and he chipped a hole in the casing! I was furious. It was going to cost me several hundred dollars just to replace the casing.

Luckily there was a lifetime warranty and Lawnboy replaced it at no cost. The only maintenance I have done is to replace the spark plug and change the wheels. I am still using this mower today and will continue to do so until the motor goes out on me.
