My Craftsman LT1000 Experience Has Not Been Very Good

by Bill Barnes

I own a Craftsmen LT1000. I bought this lawn mower in my local Sears and have not been pleased with it. The lawn mower is very difficult to get started and has been that way since nearly new.

Once started it works well going up hills, down hill and on flat land. It does not have much traction in the snow or rain though. I have had to replace a lot of parts on it. I had to replace the mower deck belts, the starter twice, the headlights, the spark plugs and the tires.

I have also bought several batteries for it. I hoped that buying a new battery or a battery with higher amp rating would solve the hard starting problem. It did not help at all.

Overall, besides the cheap quality of the machine, and difficulty to get it started, it does its job of cutting the grass well but I will not be buying another Craftsman mower.

Craftsman LT1000 Lawn Tractor
by: Keith

I am now shopping for another lawn tractor since my 8 year old tractor has bitten the dust due to excessive rust. It's not the tractor's fault since I live along the coast and my yard and atmosphere are salty.

Anyway, back to to my LT1000 review. After looking at all the manufacturers and models that were comparable, I've decided to buy another Craftsman. The overall dependability of my last one was key in my decision. The dealer support was also a factor. While the mower was not perfect, the belts being the most problematic, overall I was happy enough to invest another $1500 on a Craftsman.
