Neuton CE5.1 Battery Powered Lawn Mower

My mower of choice is the Neuton CE5.1 electric battery mower which I have owned for over 5 years. There are good and bad points about this mower. The bad points are the width of the mower is narrow making mowing time longer. I have had problems with the battery charger but have recently bought a new updated charger and it works fine.

Since the battery only works for a given time period, I have purchased a second battery. The only maintenance for the mower is charging the battery. There are no gas, oil or spark plugs to buy. No pulling the rope to start the engine, just hold the bar down and it starts fine.

It is quiet and environmentally friendly, since no gas to burn or oil to change. I bought the mower online from Neuton Power and still use it after 5 years. I got rid of my gas engine mower and do not plan to go back to using it. My yard is 1/2 acre and I enjoy pushing the lawn mower around every week. This is a lawn mower for small to mid size lawns and gardens.

Very Lightweight And Affordable For Small Lawns
by: Donna Young

I currently own a Neuton CE5 Battery Mower, which I purchased from a local Home Depot in San Diego, California. The Neuton battery mowers run very quietly (they do not require gas, so they don't have loud motors), and because they are not self-propelled, they do not run the chance of over powering you like many self-propelled lawn mowers do.

The battery life is very good; I can mow my entire front lawn and backyard with it on a single charge and the Duracell batteries recharge very quickly.

The Neuton is very lightweight (I would estimate about 30-40 lbs with the battery in), and you can choose to attach the bag to the back to collect the grass and leaves, or let them fall through to create compost to fertilize your lawn.

After owning the Neuton mower for about a year so far, I have found that the Neuton works much better on smaller lawns, because it is a narrow lawn mower, and it would take quite a long time to mow large lawns. There have been times when I have had to run over a patch of grass twice just to make sure that I mowed all the grass down.

Sometimes I also need to adjust the path that I am mowing to account for the fact that the Neuton?s blades only mow a narrow strip. I do like the adjusting height on the Neuton, it makes it so simple to mow taller grass and shorter grass.

I had another lawn mower where the height adjustment was very minimal and very hard to adjust, which was why I purchased the Neuton CE5 mower. In general, the Neuton is a great little lawn mower. It is affordable in price, lightweight, and very easy to use (it's literally a push of a button).

Good For Small Lawns
by: Elizabeth M. Sellars

I purchased this mower shortly before I moved from a house with a very small yard, to a very large yard. It worked great on the small yard. I bought two batteries which were interchangeable, and you could charge one while using the other.

I was able to mow my entire lawn on a single charge, and use the other battery for the electric edger attachment which would attach to the front of the mower. It was very cool. The one complaint I had with it, was that even though it has a 14 inch blade, it only had about a 12 inch cutting swath. It just didn't spin fast enough, and no amount of blade sharpening seemed to help.

In my smaller yard, it didn't make matter too much because it only added a little time onto the task. Once I moved to a larger yard however (100x300 feet) it became a huge problem.

The cost of running the mower was good, at just a few pennies for electricity, and it was extremely quiet, however I used both batteries and still had to spread the job over two days or more because I had to recharge the batteries.

The grass in the new lawn grew much faster and thicker than the old lawn, so if it was not cut twice a week, the actual cutting swath went down to about six inches, and still looked pretty bad. I eventually gave up and purchased a gas mower after trying a corded electric, and becoming extremely frustrated with the cord.

Overall, I would say if you have a small lawn with thin grass, it is a great mower that hardly costs anything to run, and is extremely quiet and eco friendly. However, if you need something more powerful, electric mowers just aren't the way to go.
