Snapper Hi Vac 2170B 21" Push Mower

I have a Snapper Hi Vac lawn mower, specifically model number 2170B in the 700 Series. It was purchased in a store about a year ago and has been used for one entire mowing season and part of another. It is a manual push mower that has the capabilities to mulch, bag, or shoot the grass clippings.

It features a changeable throttle that ranges in speeds from slow (turtle) to fast (rabbit). It also features a moveable deck for higher or lower grass. Also, it is a recoil start mower, but I have never had any issue getting it to start. I have never not had it start on the very first pull.

I use the Snapper Hi Vac 2170B to mow a 1/2 acre lot which is mainly sloping, sometimes very steeply. There are also many obstacles to go around including a deck, a patio, several flowerbeds, as well as trees. It has proven to have some positives and negatives when it comes to using it to mow my yard. For positives, it is very strong and is able to cut through major grass, especially when I let the yard go a little longer than I should. I’ve never had it stop or stall out on me because it couldn’t handle the grass I’ve tried to mow.

It works the best on flat areas of grass. It maneuvers well around obstacles and has a great turning radius. A negative of this mower would be that it is full push and it is heavy. It gets to be cumbersome when trying to scale some of the hills that are in my yard.

It would be nicer to have a mower that was self-propelled to get itself up the hills instead. I would recommend buying this mower for any size yard. My only recommendation would be taking a second look at getting a self-propelled mower instead if you have a yard that has some hills to it.

Overall, though, the Snapper Hi Vac 2170B mower is a great deal for the price and with a little bit of strength, can overcome most of the obstacles that it faces.
