Two summers ago my original John Deere mower was beginning to show signs of its age. I had been using the old mower for well over 15 seasons. The old tractor had done well for me. From the abuse my children and the hours of work a weekend I knew it was time to give the old girl a rest.
I knew I would have to replace her with a new John Deere mower. So that weekend I went down to the Home Depot to pick out my new weekend toy. I decided on the John Deere 54" riding mower Model D170. I am pleased as can be with this new mower.
The first thing I noticed was the improved power from the 26hp engine. Climbing the hills in my yards was no problem for this mower. I have a large front yard that is on a hill and a large flat yard. The mower is strong and powerful for the hills and fast and efficient for the flat sections. Also does a great job of circling around all the trees in my yard.
I also found that the mulching blades did a much better job on the grass. I even compared my yard to my neighbors that is cut with a cub cadet. I would have to say that there is a noticeable difference in the amount of grass clippings left in the yard. While my neighbor is out raking his clippings I am sitting on the deck drinking a lemonade. I have nothing but positive thoughts about John Deere and my new D170 mower. Thank You John Deere!
