Toro 20065 Mower - 22" Cutting Width

by Danielle Collins
(New Castle Delaware)

I currently own a Toro 22" lawn mower, model 20065 and must say that I am thrilled with this mower. Like most folks a lawn mower is nothing more than a needed machine to complete a chore that to most folks is laborious and time consuming. Not so with the Toro 22 inch lawn mower Model 20065. I am actually finding myself looking forward to mowing the lawn.

This mower makes the job effortless. The blade is very sharp. The height settings are very easy and the wheel base and construction makes the job a breeze. At the end of the mowing, clean up is easy, storing is easy as the mower does not take up a lot of space and best of all the mower starts almost every time with just one attempt.

I have shared my experience with my friends and some have even purchased based upon my praise of how well made this mower is. Bravo to the folks at Toro for making such a wonderful product. In a time of economic hardship each of us must make sure our money is spent well for quality merchandise. With the Toro 22" mower every penny is being spent on value. To date I have had zero mechanical issues, however as eventually all things wear out, I know I will be able to get the needed parts and even then when this mowers service life is over there is only one brand I will buy, and that brand is, Toro!

I currently live in New Castle Delaware and I purchased this mower two years ago at my local Home Depot. I would say that this mower is flexible in that it would compliment both a large and small lawn or garden. It is just a very well made mower.

My Review Of The Toro 20065 Self Propelled Mower
by: Charles Sumpter

I live in Fort Worth, Texas. After much online research of different brands, I purchased my Toro self-propelled lawnmower model 20065 from a chain home improvement store in June of 2008. It has a 22 inch cutting deck and mulching capability.

When I first started using the Toro mower, the self-propelled front wheel drive worked extremely well and had quite a bit of power that helped me finish my lawn in record time, mainly because I almost had to run to keep up with it! I considered it a good cardio workout without the soul-sucking burden of a gym membership.

I was happy with the performance at first and the mulching feature did an awesome job on tall grass and piles of leaves but as I used it on my fairly average sized lawn I realized that it would miss cutting a single blade of grass here and there.

It was irritating but I could live with it. On dry grass it performed satisfactorily but if the grass was slightly damp from a light rainfall the night before or even heavy morning dew, I noticed it would bog down very easily and the deck would become clogged causing the engine to stall out. I first thought it was the mulching feature that was causing the engine to stall but it did the same thing if I did not use that particular feature.

I was forced to wait until the grass was completely dry before I attempted to mow. The "guaranteed to start with one pull" claims turned out to be true and to this day works just fine.

My biggest peeve with the Toro 20065 mower was when the front wheel drive started to make some grinding noises and then completely stopped working all together in the span of a couple of weeks. I have continued to use the mower without the front wheel drive for 2 months now and I find it slightly more difficult to use but not enough to pay the 100 dollar cost of replacing the mower transmission.

I also cut the lawn of my wheelchair bound neighbor so the mower has gotten quite a workout for the past 3 years, especially with the small twigs, limbs and pecans that her 5 large 65 year old pecan trees frequently drop. They are usually hidden in the grass and I do not notice them until I have mowed over them.

However, when I do mow over them, the mower makes swift work of them. The mower was also used by my two brothers who cut their lawns with it for the first year I owned it..without my knowledge, but that's a whole other story. Even though I am still using this mower (because I can?t afford a newer one), if my yard were larger or I had a difficult incline to maneuver, I would not recommend purchasing this Toro mower.

If someone were a lawn care professional I believe they would be sorely disappointed in the performance due to the problems I have encountered. It does its best work on small, flat surfaced lawns with minimal shrubbery or flower bed borders. If I had it to do over again, I would purchase a different brand altogether.

I Am Pleased With My Toro Mower
by: Bill Russell

I am currently using a Toro 22" Personal Pace, the 56 cm. I have been using Toro mowers since I was a young man mowing my parents lawns and am now a 29 year old home owner on my second Toro. This has been a very reliable mower and has done well so far this year. I have not had to make any major repairs or adjustments to the mower other than normal maintenance and care.

I bought the mower at the beginning of this season and have run her about 8 times or so this season. It has done well and been very reliable. I have a fairly large yard that takes around 1 hour to mow. I bought the mower at a local hardware store here in Knoxville. I have been very happy with this mower, and Toro overall, as it has always been a reliable make of lawn equipment.
