Yard Machines 11A-504C000 With Briggs And Stratton 158cc Engine

This review is for a lawn mower, Yard Machines 11A-504C000, Briggs & Stratton, 500 Series, 158 CC, 22 inch cut. I am from Rockford, IL and this particular lawn mower was purchased about a year ago from our local Farm and Fleet store. This lawn mower is a gas powered, self propelled push mower with a side discharge. No bag is provided for grass clippings.

In fact, there is nowhere to put a lawn bag, even if one was provided. So if you are looking for a mower that can collect grass clippings so your lawn can good nice and neat afterwards, this is not the mower for you. However, if clippings are not important then this may be the mower for you.

Currently, I use this lawn mower for my own lawn and other lawns. My backyard is very hilly and is quite steep in some areas. The fact that the mower can be self propelled makes mowing the steep parts of the hill very easy. In order to trigger the self propulsion, all you need to do is to hold up on the self propulsion bar, which is conveniently located right under the bar where you would push the lawn mower. It takes no extra effort to activate the self propulsion.

This mower can tackle some really tough weeds as well, but it is not recommended for medium to large branches. Small twigs are ok. For regular flat lawns or hills, this mower makes the job very easy for any lawn or any size. However, I would not recommend using a Yard Machines push mower for a large field; it would take too much time.

Although not too fancy, this machine does what a lawn mower should do, it mows lawns. There are a few things that should be noted. The side discharge is on the right hand side and there is a large black flap so it can angle the grass clippings when they are discharged. This means that you can only mow in one direction, especially if you are mowing next to a wall or a fence.

If at any time you are looking to transport the lawn mower elsewhere, and you have to lift the mower onto a truck, there is no good place to grab the mower. The only good spot to grab it is at the wheel. Of course, if there are two or more people lifting the mower, then this is not a problem. Grass clippings may be another problem. If your grass has gotten too long, and the clippings are too excessive afterwards, then you may have to rake the lawn.

I have used this Yard Machines mower for about a year now and I have not had any problems with it thus far. Personally, I do not mind having the grass clippings discharged all over the yard so I am able to overlook the fact that it cannot use a bag. There is an area behind my yard that has a lot of weeds and this mower is able to tackle them. As stated before, this is a pretty standard lawnmower and does the job.

Yard Machine Mower With 158cc Engine
by: Paula G. Peoples

I like the Yard Machine mower mainly just because I can use it. It's not too big or too heavy to push like some are. I am a smaller sized woman and I can push it through our yard without too much issue. Also I like it because it's lighter than, and not as loud as our old Weed Eater mower.

We bought this Yardman mower last month at Sears online store. I and my husband had it ready to use rather quickly (maybe thirty minutes?). I have used it myself two times. We just have a small front and small backyard, so it can get the job done quickly too. I can also get in closer to my flowerbeds and around the small pond in the back better than I used too.

I don't think you would use a push mower in larger areas or areas with hills. But I don't like that the waste from this mower stays in the yard. I would like to have a bag on it to remove the waste.

But plus side again is it doesn't leave a mess when putting gas in it. The old mower seemed to leak a lot. This one only takes a few tries to start versus the old one (sometimes felt like I pulled the rope 15 or so times before it would start).

Plus it does come with a warranty from Sears should we have any issues like we did with the Weed Eater mower. All in all I would say for the price we are happy with it and it should do well in smaller lawns like ours.

It's great for small lawn people on a budget. You want to do you cutting regularly however because this Yardman mower doesn't seem to like it when we let our grass get 'too' long and the weeds build up.
